Travis, why do you paint?
... after another year of teaching at a local high school and community college, my dad invited me on my first ever guided fly fishing trip in the majestic Colorado Rockies. I had fished, hiked, backpacked and rock climbed on my own growing up, but this was my first guided trip. I was hooked, but not just to fishing. Something magical happened.
Floating and fishing is how my dad and I connect. Like many of my collectors, getting out in nature is how I recharge!
After a tremendous day of catching (and releasing) trout after bejeweled trout, I returned home and feverishly picked up a paintbrush. I had been a sculptor and ceramicist for years before that. After painting that first fish, I retired all my 3-D art supplies. The transition was not easy.
Painting “felt right” as I stumbled through the process of honing an infinite skillset. My heart knew this was how I could help people connect with their love of nature and rekindle their inner power.
Eventually I connected with the right mentors like Ann, Daniel, Robert, Judd and Denise. They helped me develop what had laid dormant for so long. I uncovered my life’s calling to help people recognize and celebrate their inner strength. Honor the fact that You are stronger than you know! I’d love to chat with you about it.
